Invisalign® has been changing the Orthodontic game since 1997. Invisalign® Treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. No brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces.
With this in mind, many other companies have since started to release their version of clear removable aligners. With so many options on the market now, it can be tough to know whether Invisalign is the right choice.
The main difference between Invisalign® and other ‘DIY’ straightening kits is the complexity of cases Invisalign® can treat. Offering 4 different types of treatments depending on what you need.
Express – up to 7 weeks for mild tooth crowding.
Lite – up to 14 weeks for more robust changes it provides a balance between effectiveness and quick results.
Moderate – up to 20 weeks, for more complex cases.
Comprehensive – unlimited weeks, for moderate to severe tooth issues that can still be solved without the use of regular braces.
Costings is also one of the main differences between Invisalign and other straightening companies. Although Invisalign® is one of the more costly options, it truly gives you what you pay for, and more! At Alexandra Dental Practice we offer Invisalign® packages, including retainers and whitening and finance options to keep our prices as low as possible for our patients.
Using Invisalign® also means treatment will be monitored by a dentist and treatment coordinator. Having a dentist involved in the treatment ensures that not only will your teeth look perfect, but they will also be in perfect health. Before every Invisalign® case, the patient has an Oral Health check, to make sure they are suitable candidates and there are no underlying issues before treatment begins! For Dental-phobic patients, this check can be completed by one of our Coordinators! Having an Invisalign® Coordinator also means you have someone to contact before, during and after treatment.
At Alexandra we also use Virtual care, meaning we can track our patient’s progress without regular appointments, it can all be done from the comfort of home so we can check in on the straightening process and the health of the mouth during treatment.
Whether you pick a do-it-yourself approach or put yourself in the hands of a professional, it is always best to ask questions. Know the pros and cons of DIY and Invisalign® before choosing.
